In-demand Xabi Alonso has confirmed that he will stay at Bayer Leverkusen next season.
The Leverkusen head coach made the announcement on Friday ending Bayern Munich and Liverpool’s hopes of luring the Spaniard to new pastures.
Alonso has taken Leverkusen to the top of the Bundesliga and they currently hold a impressive 10 point lead over Bayern with just eight league games remaining.
That had led to both Bayern and Liverpool looking to replace the outgoing Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp with Alonso – but both clubs will now have to look elsewhere for replacements.
