Romania hosted Kosovo at home this 12 September and it was not a quiet situation and tensions escalated to not guarantee the minimal conditions to continue the match.
Meanwhile, the match was interrupted due to discriminatory behavior and that meant that the show could not go on. This is a problem for each FIFA and UEFA event and this needs to be treated seriously by the mayors of both organizations.
Those voices are not a coincidence, but the agenda of a power that is undermined and used for personal interests. That means that politics is heavily interfering in sports and this is not only a signal but has become the heart of the economy of sports.
Romanian Fans were chanting with the political phase “Kosovo is Serbia”. Without turning attention to politics the only question is: What is the true purpose of the 100 people who paid a ticket to see their team on the pitch?
To cause debates and tension. Bringing back the Cold War. To bring the conflict and serve it as a football sign of motivating the team. Cause the Romanian team was not motivated. All the contrary. It caused a UEFA product to expire without even being served to the market. It meant that the match could not continue in normal circumstances.
The Albanian team of Kosovo suffered a defeat on the pitch in this match losing 2-0, but can you find a single manager who does not think about the psychological condition of the players who return to play after being sent to the dressing rooms?
That means more about the security of a UEFA product. It shows the real value that a football match can get if it is in front of destructive forces.
The value that the national team of Kosovo and the value of any national team cannot be decided by the opinion of a crowd, indicated by the politics.
Kosovo, Romania, and any national team are a result of years of investment and research in respective countries. Many young talents are part of the national teams from a young age.
What will players like Arijanet Muric, Ibrahim Dresevic, and many other players that will play coming from municipalities with populations of other ethnicities think of their national team? They are born in Kosovo and are equally treated as any other citizen in this republic.
The real problem is that in Football you speak about the players, the coaches, the sporting directors, and also about the federations. Each one should respect this reality, starting from the fans who see their teams in the stadiums.
Football is about pure passion, unity, and above all the team spirit that drives us forward respecting everyone, even a kid who is seeing a match for the first time in Romania, Kosovo, and everywhere in the world.
