Verona wins a tough game against Roma as their amazing first half decided the outcome.

The game was quite intense and Verona struck first in the fourth minute with Ondrej Duda, who scored from a close range. Roma was in possession and tried to be dangerous in the third part of the pitch. They won a corner in the ninth minute and risked to equalize. Cristante hit the crossbar in the 10th minute.

Things seemed to change in Bentegoti with the home side that wanted to defend the equalizer. Dybala danced in Verona’s zone in the 13th, but after being intercepted, he received a yellow card for simulation.

Pellegrini has another chance in the 16h minute and after finding space in the 18-yard box he shoots wide. Paredes missed another shot in the 19th after combining at the edge of the box.

Second 20 minutes…

Roma was playing better and Verona was defending tight with two lines behind the ball. Montipo made some good interventions and kept his target clean. Roma reacted and won a penalty in the 41st minute but the decision was corrected by VAR.

Cristante tried to shoot from the distance, but the shot went outside the left post in the 43rd minute.

Verona had another chance with Ngonge who scores and sends the result in comfortable conditions just before the end of the first half. He got a pass from Andrej Duda and scored with such style. Roma had to react and substitutions were the best way to get some positive signs from the players.

So the first half ended with Verona defending but being more concrete and Roma, which was very active but could not find the net.

The second half is on the way and Roma makes two substitutions Llorente is off for Stephan El Sharawy and Aouar is in for Leandro Paredes.

Nicola Zalewski suffered an injury in the 49th as medical assistance is required for the player to be conscious. He was substituted and Karsdorp was on the field in the 51st minute.

The Verona keeper denies twice two powerful shots from El Sharawy and Mancini. Though, he concedes in the 56th minute. Aouar scores in an empty net and Roma is back in the game.

Leandro Spinazzola and Lorenzo Pellegrini combine in the 59th, but Pellegrini misses another chance as Roma suffered the accuracy in the last moment.

Dybala is also substituted and Ola Solbakken comes on to bring more energy and alternatives. Verona’s staff decides to bring Federico Bonazzoli for Ondrej Duda in with 20 minutes to play.

The game is balanced with 10 minutes to go and none of the teams does not want to concede with the defenders that play horizontally and clear dangerous balls. Isak Hien fouls Belloti and gets a yellow in the 82nd minute. The referee saw this action in VAR and expelled Hien with a red card.

Pellegrini shoots an amazing stunner in the next free kick, but he is denied by the crossbar.

Mboula is on and Djuric is coming off. Saponara had his time with Michael Folorunsho walking off the pitch. Cristante had his moment again with a shot from the distance, but couldn’t hit the target. Ten minutes were added on and Roma had all the chances to bring the equalizer.

Firstly, Pellegrini was closed at the edge of the box, and the referee continued the game. Dawidowidz was injured afterward and that meant more time wasted as Roma had something to claim.

Mancini shoots from a long range but his powerful strike finds the gloves of Montipo.

The match ended with Verona collecting three precious points as the objectives are different this season. The last season’s verdict made clear that something had to change. And changes are happening with yellow-blues finding their form in this Serie A start.
