Week 1 of the NFL season kicked off with surprises as unexpected quarterbacks lead in completion percentages.
The focus now shifts to which signal-callers can lead their teams to victory as Week 1 rolls on. While the last two NFL MVPs, Josh Allen (64.6%) and Lamar Jackson (67.3%), are set to square off, it’s the lesser-expected names that shine in Week 1 stats. Geno Smith of the Las Vegas Raiders boasts an impressive 71.7% completion rate, followed closely by Russell Wilson of the New York Giants at 69.5% and Sam Darnold of the Seattle Seahawks at 69.2%. Surprisingly, Patrick Mahomes is tied with Darnold for third place on the list.
Geno Smith has shown consistency in Week 1 starts, notably achieving over 82% completion twice in his career and closing the previous season with a 72% completion rate in a victory against the Denver Broncos. Meanwhile, Russell Wilson and Sam Darnold have also demonstrated their accuracy in the early weeks of the NFL season, making them formidable competitors in the quest for Week 1 success.
