Southampton will welcome Fulham to St Mary’s as they battle to avoid matching the Premier League’s all-time lowest points tally in club history.

Yet, Fulham began the season well placed to challenge for European qualification, but a recent slump has stalled their momentum. After impressively beating Liverpool 3-2 in April, the Cottagers suffered back-to-back single-goal defeats, most recently against Chelsea in stoppage time.
Furthermore, Manager Marco Silva will demand a swift response, yet this trip promises to test his side’s resilience. They arrive having lost three successive away matches by a single goal.
Moreover, the reverse fixture ended goalless in December, underlining how tough breaking down this Southampton side can be. Fulham have become one of just two teams to fail to score against the Saints this term.
Lesley Ugochukwu scored his first Southampton goal at the weekend, and both of his senior club goals have arrived after the eightieth minute. He will need to watch Alex Iwobi, who scored last time out to reach nine goals this season.
