László Bölöni the man who gave Sporting the championship and the cup in the 2001-2002 season, was honored during a short ceremony in the match between Sporting and Arouca.
Ruben Amorim, the current coach of Sporting Lisbon was asked if he wanted the same treatment in the future with Sporting.
“I have no intention of that. It is neither modesty nor immodesty. I don’t like those things. I want to lead my life differently. I’ll go back to Alvalade because my eldest son is already a Sportinguista (and the youngest Benfica fan, so I’ll have to go swimming in the Segunda Circular). I will always have that connection, and there is no stronger connection than having a Sporting son. I’ll buy my ticket, I don’t expect to have any of that,”- said the coach.
Then the coach added that he likes Boloni more today than he did in the future.
“I met Mister Boloni and told him that I didn’t like him at all at the time. Now I like him.”
