Portimonense vs Sporting CP match preview, where to watch the game live stream, international TV coverage, world time zones, and lineups.
Portimonense face a tough challenge as underdogs in Friday’s Taca de Portugal third-round clash against defending Primeira Liga champions Sporting Lisbon at Estadio Municipal de Portimão.
Portimonense, currently struggling in the Segunda Liga, have had a rough start to their season with just one win in seven league games. Despite a big 5-1 victory over Marítimo before the September break, Ricardo Pessoa’s men have since suffered three consecutive losses. A recent 3-1 win over Vianense in the cup offers some hope, but their recent lack of goals and league form is worrying as they prepare to face a defensively solid Sporting side.
Sporting, on the other hand, have been dominant in domestic competition, not conceding a goal since mid-August and winning their last six league games without letting in a single goal. With victories over Porto, Arouca, and Casa Pia, Ruben Amorim’s team will be confident of continuing their strong run, especially against a side they’ve beaten 12 times in a row since 2018.
While Portimonense hopes for an upset in this one-off match, Sporting’s recent form and historic dominance make them clear favorites to advance.
