Novak Djokovic expressed his happiness and could not hide his joy after his qualification in the finals of Wimbledon. He said that it was a well thought, straight-set victory and it was closer than it appears on the scoreboard.
The victory against Sinner proved once again that Novak Djokovic is playing better tennis year after year and above all is far from retirement. His age and his quality of play are outstanding and this is what the court tells us.

Novak Djokovic about the semi-final
Djokovic said that he expected an aggressive semi-final and hit from both forehand and backhand and fast, so he needed to be very sharp from the beginning.
“I found the right shots at the right time. Serve were up and down, but I managed to play and give an extra shot, especially towards the end of the match. He basically made some out first serves to give me the victory on the tiebreak and also when he was two set points up on the third, but that is obviously that pressure point. It is not easy to play the shots that you desire and it was great for me to finish the jobs in straight sets.”
The final and the motivation
Novak to the journalist: To be honest with you, I don’t feel much difference. Ambition is always the highest for me, you know, to win the title. So it is not changing regardless of the place in history books. Maybe some people think that it would be a huge relief for me to win Roland Garros, being the only men’s tennis player with 23 Slams.
“But I mean the pressure is there, it’s still very high. I still feel you know goosebumps and butterflies and nerves coming to every single match. So I’m gonna be coming into this first final like it is my first final. To be honest I don’t wanna approach to that final in a more relaxed way than I have done to previous ones. Meaning the intention needs to be clear and the goal and approach will be as serious and professional as have been always. So no match difference for me there.”
