Mohamed Salah has entered the final year of his contract with Liverpool, and looking at his incredible stats, it’s easy to see why the club would struggle to let him go.
His achievements on the field have made him a key player, and he’s showing no signs of slowing down.
Known to fans as the “Egyptian King,” Salah, now 32, is at an age when many players start losing their speed and sharpness. But he’s defied those expectations. He’s still a crucial figure, just as he was during the successful Jurgen Klopp era, and he continues to shine under new manager Arne Slot. Finding someone to fill his shoes would be no easy task.
When Liverpool signed him from Roma in 2017 for just £36.9 million, few could have imagined the incredible impact he’d go on to have. Over the years, he has shattered record after record. Salah has now scored 220 goals and provided 98 assists in 365 games, making him Liverpool’s all-time Premier League leading scorer with 162 goals in 260 matches.
Salah is in elite company, joining Liverpool legends like Ian Rush, Roger Hunt, Gordon Hodgson, and Billy Liddell as one of only five players to score over 200 goals for the club. Even among Liverpool’s best-ever scorers, his goals-per-game rate ranks high—only Hodgson and Luis Suarez have a slightly better ratio.
Facing Salah is a nightmare for goalkeepers like David de Gea, Ederson, and Illan Meslier, who have each conceded nine goals to him—the most any keeper has let in against him. Salah reached his 200-goal milestone faster than any Liverpool player, clocking in at just over 26,000 minutes.
He’s also the first player in Premier League history to score and assist at least 10 times in three consecutive seasons. And while some top scorers rely heavily on penalties, only about 15% of Salah’s Liverpool goals have come from the spot, showcasing his skill in open play.
As a clutch player, Salah has been decisive time and again, with 60 of his goals directly winning games for Liverpool. His partnership with Roberto Firmino has been especially fruitful, with Firmino assisting more of Salah’s goals than any other teammate.
Last season, Salah scored 25 goals, averaging one every 125 minutes, while also providing 14 assists. His efforts meant he directly contributed to almost half of Liverpool’s goals. And this season, he’s already in top form with nine goals and nine assists in just 16 games, making a direct contribution to 63% of Liverpool’s goals so far.
During his remarkable 2017-18 season, Salah scored in 24 league games, setting a record for the most games scored in a single Premier League season. That year, he notched 32 league goals, breaking Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for a 38-game season, a feat only recently surpassed by Erling Haaland.

That 2017-18 season was historic in more ways than one—Salah outscored three entire Premier League teams, a testament to just how dominant he was. He also set a record for left-footed goals in a season and holds the record for the most consecutive winning appearances, a streak he achieved between March 2019 and February 2020.
Salah has made history as the most successful African player in Premier League history, overtaking Didier Drogba’s record, and has racked up an impressive five Player of the Month awards—more than any other currently active player. He also became the first player to score on the opening day of five consecutive Premier League seasons and the first to score a hat-trick against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Time and again, Salah has proved he’s one of the Premier League’s greatest. Whether he’s setting records for consecutive wins or being involved in both scoring and assisting goals in the same game, he’s become a true icon. His legacy will be a tough one for anyone to live up to.
