Manchester United has cracked down on staff leaks. The club warned employees that sharing confidential details will result in immediate termination.
CEO Omar Berrada sent a 580-word email that left no doubt: zero tolerance for leaks.
Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe became part-owner last year, United has faced intense scrutiny. The club implemented several strict cost-cutting measures. Ratcliffe now plans to make more than 100 staff redundant after last year’s layoff of around 250 employees.
United canceled free coach travel for staff during last year’s FA Cup final. They slashed ambassadorial salaries and raised ticket prices. Ratcliffe also ended Sir Alex Ferguson’s £2million-a-year role with the club to tighten spending.
Omar Berrada launched an investigation into leaked club information. He stated that any breach of confidentiality will count as gross misconduct. His email made it clear that leaking sensitive details could lead to dismissal.

Berrada warned that journalists often use WhatsApp, phone, and social media to collect club secrets. He urged staff to report any external inquiries immediately. The club is determined to secure its sensitive information at all costs.
Manchester United will hold a meeting on Monday to reveal additional cost-cutting plans. Ratcliffe and Ineos plan to cut more than 100 staff members. The club once employed 1,112 staff, a stark contrast to Manchester City’s 520.
The club aims to free up cash for first-team investments under manager Ruben Amorim. Despite record revenues, United lost £300m over three years. Cutting ties with manager Erik ten Hag and sporting director Dan Ashworth cost the club £14.5m.
Manchester United plans to tackle high costs on and off the pitch. Ratcliffe injected around £241m to develop Carrington. The club considers building a new 100,000-capacity stadium or refurbishing Old Trafford. They will scrutinize every area to secure a leaner future and meet Premier League profit rules.
