Second half
Foden and March had a 1v1 duel in the 55th but could not cross as he was blocked. Manchester City wanted to score another one in the 59th, with Alvarez having the chance to score from a free kick.
Manuel Akanji stopped Kaoru Mitoma in a tactical foul and received a yellow in exchange in the 63rd. Igor Junior also ended in referee’s book for an aggresive foul on Rodri.
Carlos Baleba and Joao Pedro were replaced by Billy Gilmour and Ansu Fati in the 66th to change the balances in the attack.
Kaoru Mitoma had a chance in front of Ederson but his attempt was saved to leave the gap of two goals still in power.
He had the second chance in the 68th, but again his attempt went wide.
Doku and Foden responded with a quick counter but they were not successful in the 71st minute.
Ansu Fati thought to reduce the gap after a pass from Mitoma in the 73rd minute.
John Stones and Jeremy Doku left the pitch for Jack Grealish and Ruben Diaz in the 75th minute.
Meanwhile, Jack Grealish received a yellow for protesting to the referee in the 84th minute.
Four minute were added on as Solly March was injured and subbed in the last minutes by Jan Paul Van Hecke in the fourth minute of added time.
Manuel Akanji was sent off after fouling Ansu Fati to end the match in the worst way possible. Julian Alvarez was replaced by Nathan Ake to defend the advantage for Manchester City.
