Manchester United have struck a promising deal with Sporting CP star Geovany Quenda.
The 17-year-old left-footer has agreed verbally to personal terms with the club. Fans now buzz with anticipation over his potential role at Old Trafford.
Manchester United eye a deal where the fee could start at €40m. Sporting CP demands at least €60m, with a release clause set at €100m. Ben Jacobs revealed that if United secure Quenda for under €60m, it will prove a bargain for the club’s future.
Manager Ruben Amorim deploys his trusted 3-4-2-1 formation at Old Trafford. After adding left wing-back Patrick Dorgu, he now seeks a specialist on the opposite flank. The tactical setup depends on securing another dynamic wing-back.
Quenda’s versatility makes him an ideal fit. The teenager impressed in Lisbon when he played as a right wing-back. Amorim expects him to operate in that role while adding creativity and pace to the attack.
According to Ben Jacobs, Quenda is quick and intelligent. He boasts excellent off-ball movement and creativity. The youngster can also play as a right winger and is likely to develop a strong goal-scoring record as he matures.

No other suitors have shown interest in Quenda so far. Manchester United remain optimistic about sealing the deal. Negotiators now target a pre-agreed fee in the €50m to €55m range to finalize the transfer.
In separate news, reports suggest unrest within the Manchester United squad. A disaffected group worries that wins depend on individual brilliance rather than solid tactics. A dressing-room source warned, “We got away with one but we might not be so lucky next time,” citing Harry Maguire’s questionable offside goal in the FA Cup win over Leicester on February 7.
Geovany Quenda’s rise continues to impress. Born in Guinea-Bissau in April 2007, he joined Damaiense at eight and later spent two years at Benfica’s academy. He moved to Sporting CP in 2021 and made history in February 2024 as the youngest-ever player for their reserve team at age 16.
He made his senior debut by scoring against Porto in August 2024 and became the club’s youngest scorer at 17 years and 95 days, surpassing legends like Ronaldo and Simão. Quenda then started a Champions League match during a 2-0 win over Lille in September 2024 and earned call-ups for both Portugal’s senior squad and Under-21s, where he registered an assist in a 2-1 win over Andorra.
