Lyon is ready to make one of the biggest sacrifices in the next summer transfer window, reports Football Insider.
At least two English clubs have shown interest in the 20-year-old footballer with Manchester United and Newcastle in the race. It is Newcastle who have made the concrete steps to bring him to St James Park.
The footballer in question is Rayan Cherki and Newcastle has done it almost ready, to sign the attacking midfielder.
They will offer £30 million to avoid any competition by Manchester United or Chelsea on the road. The midfielder is not in a good position in Ligue 1 and will have to make financial sacrifices if relegated to Ligue 2.
Lyon in difficulties
Les Gones are currently in the last place in Ligue 1 and in spite of that coach Grosso will try to profit as much as possible from his services.
He can activate him as a winger or in the midfield and the coach knows his qualities. But Cherki sees his future in the Premier League.
The fact that he is an academy product makes Lyon a club in a difficult position.
They do not want to sell their best player even in dissent times, but the conditions dictate difficult moves. That is the reason that Lyon is selling and in England are almost sure that the player will be in the Premier League next season.
It would not be the first time for Newcastle to transfer big players in the Premier League, with the Club Budget that is skyrocketing after their appearance in the UEFA Champions League.
But the Club owners from the Middle East know one market principle well and that is sustainability. They want to keep the same level of commitment and investment in the club.
That is the reason that Cherki is a great solution for Gordon and Co.
