Under Arne Slot, Liverpool surge to the top of the Premier League. They won seven of eight group games. A tough last-16 tie against Paris Saint-Germain now awaits them.

Arne Slot maintained stability last season, aside from signing Italian winger Federico Chiesa for £12.5m. Contract doubts now surround Darwin Nunez, Mo Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk. The latter three face contracts expiring on July 1. With a £200m bounty at hand, Liverpool prepare to invest in new talent.

Fears over Van Dijk’s future push Liverpool to seek a new centre-back. Interest in Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen grows stronger. Internal sources and Romano underline the club’s determination to secure this signing.

Romano revealed an internal meeting with Richard Hughes, board members, and Arne Slot sealed the decision to pursue a top centre-back. They plan to invest in young players who deliver both now and in the future. But Liverpool’s transfer hunt does not end there. The club monitors Norwegian midfielder prospect Sverre Nypan and striker Alexander Isak.

Fans push for a move that could set a British transfer record. Additionally, the Reds consider a new right-back option if Trent Alexander-Arnold moves to Real Madrid. A 21-year-old Flamengo star now tops that list, intensifying the race.

Dean Huijsen was born in Amsterdam in April 2005. His family moved to Spain in 2010, and he played for Costa Unida CF de Marbella before joining Malaga’s academy in 2015. Juventus signed him in 2021 for their U17 team, marking the start of a meteoric rise.

Juventus promoted Huijsen to their Next Gen squad in January 2023. He made his Serie A debut in October 2023. Roma took him on loan in January 2024, where he scored his first Serie A goals in February. In March 2024, he joined Spain’s U21 team. Bournemouth acquired him in the summer of 2024. He impressed with a full 90-minute Premier League debut against Nottingham Forest and scored his first goal in December 2024. Liverpool continues to monitor his progress as they search for quality reinforcements.
