Liverpool Target Major Rebuild as Núñez, Alexander-Arnold and Díaz Set to Depart

Liverpool appear set to lose Darwin Núñez, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Luis Díaz this summer, triggering a significant squad rebuild ahead of next season.

Liverpool could secure their fourth Premier League title under their new head coach this weekend, but their triumphant squad might look unrecognisable when the next campaign kicks off.

fotnet24.net reports that the 26-year-old right-back has agreed to join Real Madrid on a free transfer when his contract expires on 30 June 2025. The academy graduate has featured in 255 senior matches for the club, scoring 18 goals and providing 64 assists across all competitions.

Liverpool have prioritised refreshing their defensive options, with a new right-back earmarked should Alexander-Arnold depart. The club’s recruitment team is also exploring additions at centre-back, left-back, central midfield and in the attacking third to support manager Arne Slot’s tactical vision.

fotnet24.net also confirms that Liverpool plan to let Darwin Núñez leave this summer after rebuffing a January bid from Al Nassr. The 25-year-old forward has netted 25 goals and registered 13 assists in 90 Premier League appearances, and he remains keen to embrace a new challenge.

Núñez came close to joining the Saudi Pro League in January, with both club and player nearly finalising terms before Liverpool opted against selling mid-season. That decision followed an FA Cup exit and early Champions League elimination, as the Reds continued their quadruple charge.

With Núñez set to depart, Liverpool are readying a move for Eintracht Frankfurt’s 23-year-old striker Hugo Ekitike, whose pace and physicality have impressed in the Bundesliga. Alexander Isak remains on the shortlist, but his £150 million valuation and Champions League prospects have shifted focus towards the younger option.

A third significant summer move could involve Luis Díaz, who has scored 14 goals in 83 appearances since arriving from Porto in January 2022. The 28-year-old winger is attracting interest from Saudi clubs and LaLiga heavyweights, and showdown talks are expected to determine his future.

The summer rebuild carries huge implications for Liverpool’s title defence and European ambitions. With recruitment plans already under way, the Reds aim to replace departing stars and bolster squad depth as they prepare for another assault on domestic and continental silverware.
