Liverpool insists on a Bundesliga star, who can replace Mo Salah.

Liverpool may have found their ideal successor for Mo Salah in Egyptian striker Omar Marmoush, with the club already making contact with his agents.

The 25-year-old Marmoush, currently playing for Eintracht Frankfurt, has been lighting up the Bundesliga since joining on a free transfer in May 2023. His goal-scoring and playmaking abilities have quickly put him on the radar of top European clubs, and Liverpool appears particularly interested in his potential fit at Anfield.

Marmoush has had an outstanding season, tallying 11 goals and seven assists in just 13 appearances so far in the 2024/25 season. After impressing Liverpool’s scouts last season, Marmoush is now seriously considered as a strong candidate to boost the Reds’ attack, especially if Salah departs next summer.

Reports from Germany indicate that Liverpool has formally registered interest in Marmoush, preparing for the possibility of Salah’s exit when his contract expires. Finding a replacement for a player like Salah, who has redefined goal-scoring at Liverpool with 219 goals in 363 appearances, is no easy feat. However, Liverpool may see Marmoush as the best option to fill those iconic shoes.

If Salah leaves, Liverpool will need to move fast, as other major clubs are keeping an eye on Marmoush as well. German outlet SportsBILD claims his price could reach as high as €60 million (£50.5 million, $65.2 million), particularly if his current form continues. Liverpool will need to weigh this cost carefully, knowing his value may continue to rise.

According to TEAMtalk sources, Liverpool expects Salah’s departure after initial contract discussions in September, which weren’t particularly promising. The club may therefore be preparing an official offer for Marmoush as they plan for the future.

Egyptian journalist Tarek Metwally believes that Marmoush could become a player of Salah’s caliber, if not greater. He’s noted that Marmoush, at 25, may be even more developed than Salah was at the same age, with a strong combination of speed and skill that makes him perfect for the Premier League.

In Metwally’s words, Marmoush’s talents extend beyond speed—he’s already a more complete player. Many fans in Egypt, according to Metwally, would love to see him play in the Premier League and bring his talents to a top club.

This admiration for Marmoush is mirrored by Egypt’s fan base, with his recent performances captivating viewers. When Marmoush scored twice against Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer, Egyptian fans reacted with the same excitement they typically reserve for Salah’s big games.

Bild journalist Christian Falk has also remarked on Marmoush’s ambition, noting the player’s interest in the Premier League and his openness to Liverpool or Arsenal should offers arise. With Liverpool’s recent contact, Marmoush’s dream of a Premier League move could soon become a reality.

Interestingly, Liverpool may consider fast-tracking the process and making an offer as soon as January, though that would likely depend on Salah’s own decision about his future.

In addition to Marmoush, Liverpool has also been eyeing Bournemouth’s talented Hungarian left-back as a potential long-term replacement for Andy Robertson, whose influence at Anfield has waned. This young player would represent a fresh addition to the Reds’ defense as Robertson’s role gradually changes.

Liverpool is also looking to strengthen at center-back and is facing competition from Newcastle over targets like Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi and Sevilla’s Loic Bade. Guehi has been an attractive option, but Liverpool sees Bade as a similarly skilled alternative if Guehi becomes unattainable.

Bade, who has a €50 million release clause, might be available for less if Sevilla is willing to negotiate. Both Liverpool and Newcastle see an opportunity for a high-value signing with either player.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa and Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in Bade as well, making the competition for his signature all the more intense.

With all these potential moves, Liverpool looks prepared to enter a new era, potentially without Salah but with exciting talent lined up to join the ranks. Marmoush’s arrival would mark a new chapter, and fans are eager to see how these plans unfold as the club reimagines its roster.
