Lincoln City vs Birmingham City match preview, where to watch the game live stream, international TV coverage, and world time zones.
Lincoln City and Birmingham City are set to face off for the first time in a league fixture since 1954, as they clash at the LNER Stadium this Saturday in League One. Both teams are chasing promotion, so it’s bound to be an exciting matchup!
Lincoln City, the hosts, have had a solid start to the season. After finishing just outside the playoff spots last year, they’re determined to crack the top six this time. They’ve lost only one of their first nine league games and are riding a seven-game unbeaten streak in League One. Their last league win came against Leyton Orient, with Jovon Makama and Freddie Draper securing the goals. To top it off, Makama recently signed a new three-year contract, which will definitely boost the team’s spirits.
Thanks to some international call-ups, Lincoln had a break from league action and enjoyed a comfortable 2-1 win over Grimsby in the EFL Trophy just before the international break. Now, sitting in fourth place, they’ll be looking to close the gap on league leaders Birmingham, while also staying ahead of Exeter City and Charlton Athletic.
Lincoln has seen new heroes step up this season, with Ben House and defender Adam Jackson showing they can find the back of the net. Even without last season’s top scorers Joe Taylor and Daniel Mandroiu, the Imps have plenty of firepower.
On the other side, Birmingham City, one of the top favorites to win the League One title, hit a minor bump in their otherwise smooth journey. They suffered their first league loss of the season against Charlton earlier this month, ending hopes of an unbeaten run. They struggled to break through Charlton’s defense, and a goal from Matty Gooden sealed the deal for Charlton.
However, Birmingham bounced back quickly with a 4-0 victory over Shrewsbury in the EFL Trophy, thanks to a brace from Scott Wright and goals from Tomoki Iwata and Emil Hansson. Despite the loss, they still sit comfortably at the top of the League One table, with a two-point cushion over second-placed Wrexham and newly-promoted Mansfield Town in third.
While Birmingham made waves in the summer transfer window by splashing out on new signings, their recent focus has been on securing contract extensions for key players like Ethan Laird, Paik Seung-ho, and Keshi Anderson.
Saturday’s matchup promises to be an exciting battle between two in-form teams, with plenty to play for on both sides!
