Leon Bailey has agreed to sign a new contract with Aston Villa and will stay in Villa Park for at least three years more.
He is one of the key players for Aston Villa and Unai Emery and this brings more commitment and energy to the players’ legs. Bailey is one of the main men in Villa’s front three and has more to show in the upcoming seasons.
Bailey is a left-footed player but plays well with both feet and this is probably one of his biggest strengths. The player is one of the prolific strikers in the market and Aston Villa did not want to lose the player with 0 money in 2025.
Aston Villa signed him from Bayer Leverkusen back in 2021 for £27 million; this was a serious investment for the club. Villa wanted an attacker to secure their goals and good performances.
Although Emery has mentioned him as a player who has his good and bad moments this did not stop the club from sitting and talking about the renewal terms. The Jamaican International has more to show in the pitch and this is probably one of the reasons why he is so sure for the renewal.
Villa signed Moussa Diaby from Leverkusen for £45 million and this was a movement that saw Bailey away from the club. As it happened, and usually as unpredictable as the market is we saw a different movement from Villa.
They want to keep the player for several reasons but the main reason is to secure options upfront. The coach needs a complete squad and Bailey is already one of the chosen players.

Negotiations
After Ollie Watkins and John McGinn’s renewal, it was the turn of Leon Bailey to complete his renewal. His father Craig Butler, who is his agent, is sitting for at least a two-year extension but Fotnet24 understands that the extension will be with another year extra.
This would create a base for further talks and Phoenix Sports, which is the agency that manages the rights of the player, is ready to negotiate.
The negotiations include some terms and one of them is a salary increase with some improved terms. The annual salary is expected to be around £6 million, which is a bit higher than the actual £5.2 million. But none of the data is official and this is due to the confidentiality of the negotiations.
The club and the agent of the player are conscious of the enforcement that comes from the PSR and will carefully write all the details in the contract to not break any rules. This is mightily important in a process that is observed by many eyes simultaneously.
The negotiations are at the same time a guide for further collaboration and the player and the agent have clear their obligations in the contract and the benefits.
Player’s performance
He has played already 21 games in the Premier League this season scoring 7 goals and providing 6 assists. He has given performances at the highest level and according to famous bookmakers such as Sofascore and Opta Sport he will continue at these levels.
Bailey has played five games in the Conference League so far, scoring one and providing five assists. This compared to his friends and the competition in the team are very good indicators. He has played half of the season and another half in these levels means very good performances for the whole season.
Emery has given his view on the player and the coach already knows what type of player he has in the attack. But any surprise in his decisions cannot be excluded. The player should stay focused and not be taken into so-called inner developments that keep him away from the field. The new contract gives him more confidence for the future and the player will give more from his abilities in the next games.
Bailey will be a central part of the Aston Villa project. He has all the consideration and the belief of the coach.
The next games will test the effectiveness of his new contract. It is up to player’s commitment and desire to perform.
