Justin Gaethje spoke about his fight with Dustin Poirier commenting on his win, the tactics he used and the forthcoming fights.
“I thank God every day for this ride; it means everything to feel, work hard for something, and find success. It is a special feeling. It’s awesome.”
Asked by the journalist if he was surprised by anything in the last match, Justin answered that he was surprised by himself and how well he fought.
“Obviously that’s what I thought about every day for the last 12 weeks as a left hand. That thing’s dangerous. So, I didn’t want to get hit by it today but the coach said don’t worry about it. That’s not what we’re worried about. We are worried about fighting a fight. Fighting your fight and I went in there and I did that.”
Gaethje commented on his high kick and if it could be the shot that catches the opponent. He answered that he was not clear that he was working in the first round.

“I was just trying to not get hit by that left hand very much.”
Gaethje responded to the journalists about the next match and how important it was for him to be the contender of Islam Makhachev vs Charles Oliveira.
“UFC is the guys that make the calls so we’ll see what happens I have no idea. I’d want to watch it. I’d want to be a backup fair enough, unless they pay me a ton of money. “
“In the cage, I said (to Islam Makhachev): Hey man, if we both agree to never fight each other again unless you have to have it then you know I’m here, but we’re one on one. So we’ll see, I would never deny him the opportunity just he did not deny me an opportunity, but you know I don’t want to be my next fight.”
Then the fighter returned to speak about the game and the tactics he followed to win the match. Gaethje spoke about a possible fight with Conor McGregor saying exactly: “I don’t want to fight someone on steroids”. Gaethje is one of the top fighters in the business and will seek to defend his title on the upcoming games.
