Christian Horner has responded in a fashionable way to the claims of Toto Wolf that Red Bull is a single-pilot car.
The debate began after the declarations that Mercedes’s executive director made for Max Verstappen. He said that Sergio Perez is left behind and he is not the focus of his team. But Christian Horner responded immediately denying the claims and saying that Red Bull tries to build the fastest car.
“We’ve seen that Max has destroyed every single teammate that was with him. Whether it’s his ability to create a car around himself that’s just very tricky to control but fast if you can, and that makes those gaps.
“It shows a total lack of understanding of how a race car and team develop, if Toto thinks that we’re developing a car around a single driver.
“You develop a car to be as quick as you can, and sometimes quick cars are difficult cars. That’s what’s historically been the case. And I think that drivers adapt.
“The good drivers that you see in wet conditions, mixed conditions, varied conditions, the elite, they adapt quickly. And I think that one of his key skill sets is his ability to adapt to the feeling and the grip levels that a car gives him.
He is one of the most prepared pilots with the execution of the strategy of the team and the orders he gets from the team. Verstappen is prepared for each scenario. He is extra motivated to win the next races.
Verstappen and Red Bull hold the first place for drivers and constructors and will try to keep the first place with eight races to go they seem to be the favorites for the title.
