The New York Jets finally ended their five-game losing streak, thanks to a stunning play by Garrett Wilson that left fans in awe.
Wilson made an incredible catch, pulling in a 26-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers. As he snagged the ball, Wilson managed to keep his left foot and left shin inbounds just inside the end zone, giving the Jets a much-needed boost and helping secure their 21-13 victory over the Houston Texans.
After the game, Wilson shared his thoughts with Prime Video’s Kaylee Hartung. “Honestly, you’re just thinking about making the play,” Wilson said. “Aaron believed in me, and once that ball was in the air, you just go for it. I’m really glad they switched the call because we really needed it. I take pride in coming through when the team needs it most.”
The catch wasn’t just memorable; it was a game-changer. With the Jets trailing 10-7 in the fourth quarter and facing a challenging third-and-19, Rodgers sent a perfect pass to Wilson, who managed to outmaneuver Texans cornerback Kamari Lassiter. Wilson extended his right arm, brought down the ball, and kept his foot and shin inside the end zone, initially ruled incomplete until Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich challenged the call. After review, the touchdown was confirmed, and the Jets had their momentum.
Rodgers later explained the setup of that play, saying, “I knew it was a long shot, but I thought if the safety dropped, I’d take my chance with G. I just lobbed it up there, and he made an unbelievable catch. When I saw the replay, I thought, ‘Throw the challenge!’ But Brich was already on it, so it worked out.”

Wilson had two touchdowns that night, part of a solid nine-catch, 90-yard game, but it was his fourth-quarter heroics that will be remembered. His catch instantly drew comparisons to Odell Beckham Jr.’s famous one-handed grab for the Giants in 2014, also at MetLife Stadium. When asked about the comparison, Wilson was humble. “Odell’s was different,” he said. “He got two feet down, and it was just… Odell, you know? For mine to even be mentioned alongside his, I feel blessed.”
Ulbrich was equally impressed. “I told the ref, ‘For history’s sake, you’ve got to call that a catch,’” he said. “It’s right up there with the Odell catch. Amazing stuff.”
Wilson’s memorable play wasn’t the Jets’ only score of the game. Rodgers also found Davante Adams for a 37-yard touchdown, marking the duo’s first scoring connection as Jets teammates. Wilson’s first touchdown, a 21-yarder in the third quarter, sparked the offense after a sluggish first half where they were held scoreless.
His second touchdown, though, was the highlight, bringing energy and excitement back to the Jets. It’s a moment that could be remembered as the spark they needed, even though their playoff chances remain slim with a 3-6 record. The Jets haven’t historically made the playoffs after starting 3-6, according to NFL Research, but fans will hold onto the hope that Wilson’s catch might just change that.
Even if they don’t make the playoffs, Wilson’s catch will go down as a special moment in an otherwise challenging season, much like Beckham’s catch did for the Giants. Wilson expressed relief and optimism after the game. “It feels good to win again,” he said. “Losing five straight wasn’t easy, and it didn’t feel good. We’re better than that, and tonight, we showed it.”
With Wilson’s incredible play, the Jets finally got the win they’ve been waiting for. Whether this is the beginning of a turnaround or simply a memorable highlight, Jets fans have something to celebrate again.
