Eden Hazard has decided to say farewell to active football as a professional footballer at the age of 32, having suffered numerous injuries since he joined Real Madrid.
Hazard made an announcement on social media about his retirement thanking all the fans who supported him over the years.
“During my career, I was lucky to meet great managers, coaches, and teammates – thank you to everyone for these great times, I will miss you all,” Hazard published in his social media
“I also want to thank the clubs I have played for: LOSC, Chelsea, and Real Madrid; and thank the RBFA for my Belgian selection.
“A special thank you to my family, my friends, my advisors, and the people who have been close to me in good times and bad.
“Finally, a huge thank you to you, my fans, who have followed me for all these years and for your encouragement everywhere I have played.
“Now is the time to enjoy my loved ones and have new experiences. See you off the field soon my friends.”
He started at Lille and quickly changed ranges to Chelsea where he passed his best seasons before passing to Real Madrid.
Eden Hazard made his debut for Belgium in November 2008 when he was only 17 years old. He made 126 caps with the national team, reaching the quarter-finals of FIFA World Cup 2014, Euro 2016, and Euro 2020.
In Russia, he achieved third place and led the squad as a captain. From 2015 to 2022 Belgium maintained high places in FIFA rankings.
