David Neres will be available to play on 9 August against Porto in the Super Taça which is the opening game for the official season.
The Court of Arbitration for Sports accepted the Benfica appeal to unsuspend the punishment they previously applied for David Neres. According to ABola, this decision is made to not punish the player and the team of Benfica. Neres is one of the main players of Benfica and would be a great absence if the court did not cancel the appeal.
The statement of the court says exactly the reason why the decision of the Disciplinary Board was nullified.

“It is understood, therefore, that there is no qualified, specific, and concrete public interest, which could determine the occurrence of greater damages to the Respondent Entity (FPF) greater than those that the Claimant (Neres) intends to see protected.”
With Neres in the team, Roger Schmidt will have more options to attack. Also, a more complete squad means more security and quality while the values of play are increased. But Benfica is not perfect machinery. They will have to show more quality if they want to maintain that style of play that made them champions.
Neres was one of the main players last year and this year they want to advance in Europe as the experience is bigger and the team has that extra pass. Though, he needs to grow as a player and avoid incidents like the one with Otavio and Pote during the title celebration.
Now with the full group ahead of the Super Taça and the morale high despite the loss with Burnley, Benfica wants the first victory. Neres is at the same time one of the players that brings more stamina and speed to the team. As for a place in the starting eleven, it remains to the coach to decide. As options are there Benfica has more ahead in this season starting.
