Coco Gauff opened the press conference with good feelings and with the impression of a winner leaving behind a great opponent and at the same time arriving in the final.
“Yeah it was a tough match and I had lids, lost it and you know serving for it so it was a lot of emotional, I guess challenges in the match, but I think I did a good job of staying focussed and I’m just really proud of myself today.”
Then she was asked about the delay and how this episode affected the outcome of the match and her overall performance.

“Yeah, it was a bit challenging because it’s not a typical delay so we didn’t know how long it’s gonna take. We were talking to the supervisor and security. and you know they could say it could be as quick as five minutes or as long as an hour.
“So it was tough to figure out how we stay warm or conserve energy. I you know, after 10 minutes of waiting off the inside, I decided to change my clothes and eat a bar. But, it’s life, it happens and so I just trying my best to keep the momentum that I had going from winning the first set, in the first game.”
Gauff then was asked about the evolution of self-belief and the journey that Gauff had from Roland Garros until her final in the US Open.
“I think you know playing that match… Really don’t know the whole tournament felt like a surprise to me. I don’t think I was a… I was expecting the final here too, but I just think then you know I was really winning and just relaxing and relieved that I made it to a final, because so many people expected a lot of things from me. Just thinking I just didn’t really believe that I had it in, especially at the time playing Ego, who was on a winning streak and everything.”
“But this time around I have been focusing more on myself and my expectations of myself and you know not going on social media or listening to people who believe that I can or believe that I can’t. So I’ve just really focused on myself. So, I really believe that I have the maturity and the ability to do it.”
“Regardless of what happens on Saturday, I’m really proud of how I’ve been handling the last few weeks.”
Gauff needs to give the best of herself to beat Sabalenka in the final in what is considered a really tough match.
