Chris Rigg’s clever back-heel against Middlesbrough has earned him the Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month award for September!
The midfielder’s slick finish was the deciding factor in a tight 1-0 win over Middlesbrough last month, helping Régis Le Bris’ team come out on top.
Rigg faced tough competition from Sheffield Wednesday’s Barry Bannan, Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer, and Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney, but his impressive goal secured him the award.

He shared his excitement, saying, “I’m thrilled to receive this award, but the most important thing was that it ended up being the winning goal in such a big game. Patrick Roberts got the ball on the right, and I decided to make a run into the box. Luckily, the ball found its way to me, and I managed to back-heel it into the net.”
This recognition makes it two awards in September for Rigg, who was also named the EA Sports FC Young Player of the Month earlier today.
