He shared his excitement, saying, “I’m thrilled to receive this award, but the most important thing was that it ended up being the winning goal in such a big game. Patrick Roberts got the ball on the right, and I decided to make a run into the box. Luckily, the ball found its way to me, and I managed to back-heel it into the net.”

This recognition makes it two awards in September for Rigg, who was also named the EA Sports FC Young Player of the Month earlier today.

Burnley is looking to climb to the top of the Championship table as they return from the international break this Saturday, facing Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough. Despite their low-scoring form, Burnley has plenty of positives to take from their solid defense. They’ll be keen to return to action with a bang and overcome their scoring struggles with a decisive win at Hillsborough.
