Buechele Shines in Bills’ Preseason Finale

Quarterback Shane Buechele took the spotlight in the Buffalo Bills’ preseason finale, playing the entire game and leading the team to a 23-19 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

During the game, Buechele, usually listed as a fourth-stringer, was the lone Bills’ QB to hit the field, with coaches opting to rest Mitch Trubisky and Mike White throughout. Trubisky and White had their chances earlier in the preseason, each starting a game and sharing snaps in the first two contests.

Many anticipated a Trubisky-White showdown for the QB2 spot in Buffalo. Trubisky, the incumbent, seemed to solidify his position with a 61.5% completion rate and an average of 7.4 yards per attempt. White, on the other hand, faced three sacks, completing 50.0% of his passes at 6.9 yards per attempt.

Trubisky started the preseason opener against the New York Giants, while White got the nod in the game versus the Chicago Bears. The competition was fierce, but Trubisky’s performance likely secured his role as the primary backup to starter Josh Allen.
