Rising star Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP is making waves in European football. Manchester United target him as his future brightens.
Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva has already shown his support, and top clubs now watch his every move.
Manchester United have linked with Quenda since Ruben Amorim arrived at Old Trafford. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirms United push to secure a summer deal. TalkSPORT reports that personal terms have already been agreed. The club now stands ready to act swiftly.
Ruben Amorim has openly approved Quenda’s move, a gesture that boosts United’s bid. This strong endorsement strengthens their negotiating position. Quenda’s close connection with Amorim may give United a significant edge in any transfer battle.
Reports in Portugal claim a deal worth around £50 million exists, while other sources suggest United may offer closer to £40 million. Manchester City and Liverpool have also shown interest in the youngster. However, United’s strong bond with Amorim could tip the scales in their favor.
After his move to United, Quenda thanked Amorim on social media. At Sporting, Amorim praised the teenager as “a very talented kid.” He noted that Quenda is physically robust, very focused, and keeps his feet firmly on the ground. Such qualities matter greatly for a young player.

Bernardo Silva holds high hopes for Quenda. Silva believes the talent will eventually take his place in the Portugal team. He remarked, “He will probably steal my place.” Silva also recalled that at 17 he was not even playing for Benfica’s youth team.
Quenda began his career at Benfica before Sporting acquired him in 2019. He now plays primarily as a wing-back in a 3-4-3 formation and has integrated seamlessly into the first team. In October, he set a record by scoring as the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer at 17 years, five months, and 27 days. He later became the youngest player to feature in the Lisbon derby, surpassing legends like Cristiano Ronaldo.
Quenda is climbing the ranks at the international level. Head coach Roberto Martinez called him up for the Portugal senior side for Nations League games against Croatia and Scotland last September. He also debuted for Portugal U21 in October. GET INVOLVED! Where do United need to strengthen this summer? Tell us in the comments below.
