Bears CB Tyrique Stevenson mocks Commanders fans during final play Hail Mary.

Chicago’s tough loss to Washington on Sunday was especially hard for Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson.

A viral video showed the second-year player getting caught up in the moment and taunting D.C. fans, with his back turned to the play as Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels took the snap. Stevenson then made a run toward the crowded end zone, where he tipped the ball, but it landed in the hands of Noah Brown, securing Washington’s 18-15 win.

Although Stevenson chose not to speak with reporters after the game, he later posted an apology on social media. “To Chicago and my teammates, my apologies for the lack of awareness and focus,” he wrote. “The game isn’t over until the clock hits zero. Can’t take anything for granted. I’ve learned from this, and I will improve.”

Stevenson had a challenging day, giving up four catches for 90 yards on nine targets, according to Next Gen Stats. The Bears’ defense allowed 326 passing yards and a touchdown to Daniels, who was playing through a rib injury. Despite holding Washington out of the end zone for most of the game, the final play sealed their fate.

Chicago, trailing 12-0 late in the third quarter, made an impressive comeback to take the lead with just 25 seconds left before Daniels’ game-winning play. Bears head coach Matt Eberflus acknowledged the disappointment but also praised the team’s effort. “When you lose a game like that, it’s tough to swallow,” Eberflus said. “But I’m proud of how they fought back to give themselves a chance to win.”

This loss dropped the Bears to 4-3, putting them last in the highly competitive NFC North division.
