Barcelona have rejected a big offer from this club for Lamine Yamal

Barcelona have rejected an offer of £210m from PSG for Lamine Yamal in this summer, with a contract that could go as much as £38m for the wage of the player and the sponsorships.

PSG have made a concrete offer to bring Lamine Yamal to Parc des Princes, El Mundo Deportivo reports, but the coach Flick and the president Laporte have said no. This has been the situation during the Euro 2024 at Barcelona and reports claim that PSG have made several attempts to transfer Yamal.

At the same time, Barca not only did not want to sell Yamal but brought Olmo into the team and tried to transfer Nico Williams. This enforcement made Barcelona to see forward and not consider Yamal’s transfer. Although, the second transfer of Nico Williams was not completed the team is strong and committed to do well in the UEFA Champions League.

There are some lines that cannot be passed and the money cannot buy everything. But, it is important to make the difference between the reality and the desire of the club to transfer the player. Reality is simple, the player wants the club and wants to stay, and PSG were extremely interested in the player.

The back scenes of the negotiations

With Yamal which was valued at around £130m from the club, PSG made the first offer before the Euros. But his performances in the Euros skyrocketed his value, making the operation more difficult. There comes into play the president Al Khelaifi, who wanted Yamal in the squad, after letting Mbappe go to Real Madrid with zero costs. So this was the chain of events with PSG which wanted to complete the transfer before the Euro tournament.

Barca’s role was clear, they wanted both wings to be renewed, with Williams, who was ready for a transfer to Catalunya. However, financial fair play and the financial breach caused by old transactions made Barcelona and Flick consider Raphinha and Yamal for the new season.

Barca needs Yamal and his skills to do well in Spain, but the season is long and the club wants the player fit and well, keeping injuries away. At this point, transferring Yamal to Paris is impossible, considering the desire of the player and the commitment of the club.

They want to keep the player for the upcoming seasons and this is a clear objective of the club. As it stands, PSG might try this in the upcoming season, but things are far away from a possible transfer. The president of Barcelona has made it clear, that stars stay. This will be the policy, excluding extraordinary conditions or possible pauses during the 2024-2025 season.
