Porto has the chance to grow and develop the player as this would not be the first chance for the Portuguese team to raise young players. This time, playing in the Champions League will help the youngster to show his skills and play in a different league/

Primeira Liga is a competitive league and offers a chance for all the talents to show their values. The role that Nico has will help Porto to find sustainability and concentration. The league is not a sprint, it is a marathon and Gonzalez has the perfect chance to prove his value.

Situation at Barcelona

At the same time, the situation was not the same in Barcelona. Nico Gonzalez was recruited on the orders of Ronald Koeman, but ever since has found little to no space to play. He together with other young elements found it difficult to be adapted with Xavi’s tactics.

The Barcelona Coach preferred Busquets over Nico and with Busquets leaving for Inter Miami, Gundogan replaces him. So there is no space for Nico to stay in the club.

Another big factor is that Xavi wants a box-to-box defensive midfielder and one that is experienced in big competitions. And Gundogan meets those criteria.

Barcelona will search for a new midfielder and they have already secured the services of Oriol Romeu from Girona. The player now 31 years old will stay for the next three seasons in Camp Nou. SB Nation reports that Oriol Romeu paid the release clause himself to Girona, the sum of 3.4 million euros to play at Camp Nou.

Barcelona is full of options and will fight for La Liga and UEFA Champions League next season.
