Atletico Madrid collects the second consecutive victory to put themselves in the race for the top-four.

Atletico returned to play after defeating Real and this transfer was expected to be difficult because Osasuna had not won in the previous four games.

The motivation was high on the players of Osasuna, who started with Mojica, Budimir, and Avila in the attack. Atletico responded with Morata and Griezmann and hoped to repeat the success against Real Madrid.

The game saw Osasuna in possession in the first minute and Atletico recuperated some ground in the fifth minute. They won a free kick with Catena fouling Morata, but in the next action, the attacker could not do much to put Fernandez in difficulties.

Antoine Griezmann is caught offside in the ninth minute. Nahuel Molina repeated his action after getting a pass from Griezmann. Mojica commits a foul in Llorente and the game got heated in the 12th minute.

Chimmy Avila crosses for Ante Budimir and the Croatian striker headed the ball into the hands of Jan Oblak. Samuel Diaz Lino was lying on the pitch in the 15th minute and the game restarted one minute later.

Atletico stroke first.

Lucas Torro shot in the 19th, but his shot went wide the target defended by Jan Oblak.

Antoine Griezmann scored from an impossible angle after receiving a pass from Niguez in the zone to find the goal with the left foot.

Chimmy Avila shoots a stunner in the 24th, but his shot is saved by Jose Gimenez. This Osasuna would not give anything for free that night.

Osasuna had the response

David Garcia fouled Morata from behind and won a free kick. Ante Budimir and Jan Oblak crash in an aggressive tackle in the 32nd. The game was suspended for a couple of minutes due to Oblak’s injury. Atletico had seen only once the target of Fernandez.

Mojica had his best moment in the 37th, with a solo run finding the right post of Oblak. Gimenez fouled Budimir at the edge of the box.

The free kick did not bring any change in the result as Mojica’s shot was blocked by Jose Gimenez.

Mojica combined with Cruz and crossed in the center but his cross was blocked by Gimenez, who had a good night. Hermoso blocked another action after a combination of Budimir-Ibanez. Catena-Morata had some interesting moments in this match with the attacker, who wanted to escape his coverage.

At the end of the first half, Atletico led with one goal to zero and went to the dressing rooms with a big advantage.

“I wanted to help the team as best as I can. We expected to be a difficult transfer in Pamplona,”-said Saul Niguez for La Liga at the end of the first half.

David Garcia said for La Liga at the start of the second half: “We will try to correct the mistakes we did in the first half.”

Areso crossed for Chimmy Avila, who shot in the 49th but his attempt went wide. Osasuna had control and created more chances in the first few minutes of the second half. Alejandro Catena received a yellow in the 55th, for pulling Samuel Diaz Lino.

Chimmy Avilla tried with a strong shot, but his shot was not accurate and ended wide in the 57th.

Aspilicueta was brought on for Nahuel Molina and had some defensive duties. Torro had a clear chance in a position inside the box, but Oblak was there to save.

The first 20 minutes of the second half were better for the home side and this would cost to Simeone’s team in territory and possession.

The game would take an interesting direction

Llorente was out for Riquelme and this sub would bring not only fresh legs but also tactical changes in the positioning of the players.

Osasuna had a corner on the left with Ezequiel Avila who crossed for David Garcia who scored with a header from a short range. The goal was disallowed for a foul on Axel Witsel from Ante Budimir.

Jagoba Arrasate was sent off in the 77th and the coach left his team with two planned substitutions.

Johan Mojica walked off the pitch for Enrique Barja and Ante Budimir left the pitch for Raul Garcia.

Alvaro Morata went wild in the face of Iker Munoz and he was punished with a yellow card in the 84th. Chimmy Avilla responded with a direct kick in his knee and Munuera showed a straight red card. Morata was also sent off a minute later for pushing his opponent.

Aimar Oroz is leaving the field to be replaced by Ruben Garcia and for Osasuna the match was practically over. Cesar Aspilicueta had a chance 1v1 with Fernandez in the zone but his shot was saved by the Osasuna keeper in the 89th.

The match was over with Antoine Griezmann as the MVP of the game. He said after the game that the team needed to rest up and collect the forces for the next match.
