The Brazilian winger will take a few days off following his suspension from the Brazil National Team.
His ex-girlfriend Gabriella Cavallin accuses him of several physical violence cases and has made a report to the Sao Paulo police following the violence and the verbal violence addressed to her.
Antony’s Rayssa de Freitas and Ingrid Lana one law student and one banker told the press that they have been involved in these incidents in a pub in Sao Paulo.
Manchester United after making all the possible investigations and after consulting with the team coach ten Hag decided to give the player some resting days. United is now experienced with such cases and the Case of Greenwood who is playing in Spain at Getafe is the latest.
United came publicly with a statement: “Manchester United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony.”
“Players who have not participated in international matches are due back in training on Monday. However, it has been agreed with Antony that he will delay his return until further notice to address the allegations.”
“As a club, we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.”
Antony reacted himself describing that as a necessary decision.
“I have agreed with Manchester United to take a period of absence while I address the allegations made against me,” he said.
“This was a mutual decision to avoid distraction to my team-mates and unnecessary controversy for the club. I want to reiterate my innocence of the things I have been accused of, and I will fully cooperate with the police to help them reach the truth. I look forward to returning to play as soon as possible.”
Next few days will decide on this problem with the player, who needs to concentrate on the field.
