Carlos Alcaraz is in the semifinal of the US Open and he has a story to tell following his victory with Zverev.
The German is a tough opponent and offered him a great game. Alcaraz responded with style and won on straight sets 3-0 6-3, 6-2, and 6-4 showing the potential that Alcaraz has.
“Obviously, watching the level that Sasha was playing in the first set, you know be able to win it. It was great for me to give me more confidence and probably he got down a little bit in the second set and took my chances so it was great, coming into the third set and knowing that I was playing at a great level for him. It was really, really tough and obviously, he was struggling a little bit physically in the third set, but it was great to be able to win in the straight sets.”
“When I’m facing a breakpoint down, I try not to think about this breakpoint down. I tried to think about this as a normal point and try to do the things I was going to do, that I was doing well. Trying to put my style, trying to go aggressive…”
Alcaraz analyzed his game reminding the weak points and the strong points, but at the same time, he praised his opponent for the effort and the energy he put on the court. Alcaraz is still young but has collected a lot of experience in the last tournaments. His overall performance in improved and we can see that in the exchanges that Alcaraz makes. Often, the young tennis player has to deal with the mental games that the opponent has for him. This is a difficult sport and Alcaraz, as a young champion has to overcome these challenges.

He commented also on the abilities that his next opponent Daniil Medvedev has and how can he find the right solution to pass in the final.
“The last match I played against Daniil, I played in a tactical game, they played perfectly. I did pretty well all the things I had to do against him so I think my game switched pretty well against that type of opponent.”
Alcaraz knows the weak and the strong points of Medvedev and he will try to hit him as hard as possible, with Daniil who is an expert on forehand. Furthermore, he returns very well and this is going to be a problem for Carlos Alcaraz.
