NBA icon Tony Parker is working towards his goal of coaching in the NBA, enrolling in coaching courses to make his dream a reality.
After an illustrious 18-year career as a player, capturing four NBA championships and earning the 2007 NBA Finals MVP title, Parker is now setting his sights on a new challenge – transitioning to the sidelines. Since 2014, he has served as the president of French team ASVEL, overseeing the development of talents like Guerschon Yabusele, Victor Wembanyama, and Zaccharie Risacher.
However, Parker is eager to shift gears, expressing his desire to immerse himself in the demanding world of coaching. His recent involvement with the ASVEL under-15 team reignited his passion for the game, reinforcing his belief that coaching is where his future lies.
To achieve his coaching aspirations, Parker is diligently working towards obtaining his coaching certifications, including the DESJEPS degree and the DEPB. Anticipated to complete his Professional Basketball Coach Diploma by May 2026, Parker is dedicated to honing his skills and knowledge to excel in his new role.
Reflecting on his time spent with the young ASVEL team, Parker emphasized how the experience reaffirmed his love for the game and his longing to be back on the court, this time as a mentor and leader. With a stellar playing career behind him, Parker is now ready to embark on a new chapter, aiming to make a significant impact from the sidelines.
