Pittsburgh Steelers’ Defensive Prospect Derrick Harmon Suffers Knee Injury in Preseason Finale
Under Mike Tomlin’s tutelage, the Steelers have a history of developing homegrown defensive stars. From Polamalu to Watt, Pittsburgh’s strength lies in its defensive talents. In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Steelers drafted Oregon DT Derrick Harmon in hopes of him becoming a cornerstone in their front seven. Harmon showed promise in preseason but suffered a serious knee injury in the game against the Panthers. Falling to the turf while trying to tackle Panthers QB Jack Plummer, Harmon’s injury raised concerns among fans and team personnel. As he writhed in pain on the field, it was evident that the Steelers may have to face a setback in their defensive lineup. The severity of Harmon’s injury is yet to be determined, but the Steelers will closely monitor his recovery process to assess the impact on their defensive strategy going forward.
