Konate Focuses on Title Chases Amid PSG and Real Madrid Interest

Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate has recently attracted attention from top European clubs.

Notably, PSG and Real Madrid have shown interest in the centre-back. He described such interest as “very flattering” while remaining laser-focused on the season ahead.

Konate has been a rock at the back this season. He played every Premier League game available to him, only missing five due to a knee injury. Moreover, he helped Liverpool secure eight clean sheets in 19 league matches. His strong partnership with Virgil van Dijk further solidified the defence.

In a recent interview with French magazine Telefoot, Konate addressed his contract situation. He stated, “Hearing big clubs like that being interested is very flattering, but now I’m focusing on this season.” Additionally, he stressed his desire to win titles before considering any contractual changes. His agents and advisors now handle all off-field matters.

Konate’s current deal runs until 2026, and Liverpool have held talks with his representatives over an extension. Meanwhile, the club also prioritizes renewing contracts for Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Consequently, the Reds are actively working to secure their key players’ futures for the long term.

Reports from France claim that PSG are plotting a summer move for Konate. They intend to sign him as a partner and eventual successor for captain Marquinhos. Furthermore, Konate appears tempted by a return to his hometown since he once developed at the Paris FC academy. Therefore, a move back to Ligue 1 could be on the horizon.

Real Madrid have also entered the fray by circling Konate and Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Spanish giants aim to bolster their defence, especially since Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger, and David Alaba are sidelined with injuries. Thus, Madrid’s interest could complicate Liverpool’s transfer plans.

Sources revealed that Nottingham Forest star Murillo is on Real Madrid’s shortlist. However, no concrete details have emerged regarding Konate’s move. Nevertheless, Liverpool remain confident that Konate will sign an extension in the coming months. In short, the club is not panicking amid swirling transfer rumors.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are reportedly open to selling Luis Diaz if they can land Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. Diaz is already a target for Barcelona and Saudi Pro League clubs, and Isak is keen on joining Anfield. Additionally, Real Madrid may outmaneuver Liverpool for Ajax centre-back Jorrel Hato, with Madrid planning a bid of €40million plus bonuses. Ultimately, the summer transfer window promises to deliver major twists for all parties involved.
