Radu Dragusin, the 23-year-old Romania international, has faced a major setback this season.
He sustained an ACL injury to his right knee during Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Elfsborg on January 30. Consequently, his future on the pitch now faces uncertainty.
Moreover, Dragusin celebrated a successful surgery on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. He took to Instagram from his hospital bed and shared his positive outlook. He thanked his medical team and fans for their unwavering support and promised to return stronger.
The injury occurred when Dragusin landed awkwardly on his right leg. Therefore, he had to leave the match, and further scans confirmed the ACL tear. His exit came as a shock to both teammates and supporters.
Spurs issued an official statement confirming the surgery. According to the club, the procedure went perfectly, and Dragusin will now focus on recovery. In addition, the statement mentioned that he sustained the injury during the Europa League clash with Elfsborg.

Throughout this season, Dragusin played in 28 games for Spurs. Initially, he was behind Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero in the pecking order. However, injuries to these players allowed him to earn a first-team spot and showcase his talent.
Furthermore, Dragusin joined Spurs from Genoa in January 2024 and made nine appearances under Ange Postecoglou last season. Although his future now seems delayed, he remains determined. He aims to return by August, despite doctors suggesting a recovery period of seven to eight months.
In addition, Spurs recently strengthened their defensive options by signing Kevin Danso. The club has also seen 18-year-old midfielder Archie Gray take on centre-back duties when needed. For instance, Danso and Gray partnered up in the FA Cup match that ended in a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa.
Sadly, the injury crisis extends beyond Dragusin. Spurs had 11 first-team players unavailable for that match, including Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie, James Maddison, Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson, Timo Werner, Richarlison, and Wilson Odobert. Nevertheless, the team remains focused on recovery and is determined to overcome this challenging period.
