Tottenham News: Kevin Danso Delivers Classy Response After Cup Mauling

New Tottenham signing Kevin Danso made his debut at Anfield, and he delivered a classy 64-word response after a harsh night on Merseyside.

He conceded four goals and missed out on a place in the Carabao Cup final. Moreover, the response came amid heavy criticism from Spurs fans and O’Hara.

The 26-year-old Austria international joined Spurs from Lens last weekend. Furthermore, his loan move includes a £21million obligation to buy in the summer. In addition, his arrival was timely as Cristian Romero and Micky ven de Ven remain sidelined, while Radu Dragusin suffered an ACL injury in the Europa League win over Elfsborg.

Surprisingly, Danso received a starting nod at Anfield. This decision came despite Ben Davies and Archie Gray impressing in the 2-0 win at Brentford last weekend. However, the gamble did not pay off as expected.

Tottenham crashed to a 4-0 defeat, and the performance was among the worst of the season. Consequently, Danso did not impress on his debut. Unfortunately, this result added more pressure on an already under-fire manager, Ange Postecoglou.

Indeed, outspoken former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara criticized both Danso and fellow new signing Mathys Tel. Speaking to talkSPORT, O’Hara lambasted the performance. He described the night as “shocking” and warned that the club might not win a trophy this season without a miracle.

However, Danso took to social media on platform X the following morning. He wrote, “Yesterday marked my debut for @SpursOfficial in the @Carabao_Cup, and though we fell short against a strong side, I couldn’t be prouder to have worn this shirt for the first time. The loss stings, but I truly believe in this team and our journey ahead. I want to thank everyone at the club, and every single fan for the support! Onwards and upwards. COYS.” His message showed optimism despite the setback.

Moreover, Postecoglou has already given his verdict on Danso’s display. The manager revealed that the Austrian now has a couple of days to work on his partnership with Ben Davies before Sunday’s FA Cup trip to Aston Villa. He noted that both Danso and Tel looked comfortable until Yves Bissouma’s error led to Liverpool’s first goal.

Finally, Postecoglou admitted that inserting new players after only a few training sessions is never ideal. He explained, “They did OK. Kevin was really positive, as was Maty.” He added that his team must keep tinkering with the lineup to find fluency and consistency. In conclusion, the club remains determined to improve and build on this challenging start.
