Chelsea have set their sights on Crystal Palace full-back Daniel Muñoz as part of their summer transfer plans, with the Colombian defender impressing in his short time in the Premier League.
Since arriving at Selhurst Park in January 2024, right-back Muñoz has caught the attention of Chelsea’s recruitment team, with reports from Colombia suggesting the Blues are closely monitoring his progress. His standout performances, including a crucial goal in Palace’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City, have led to widespread interest from top clubs.
The 28-year-old has been labeled ‘amazing’ by Palace boss Oliver Glasner, but his future in South London may already be in doubt, with Chelsea expected to make a move. The Blues view Muñoz as a potential reinforcement at right-back, especially given Reece James’ ongoing injury concerns. Should a deal materialize, Muñoz would compete with Malo Gusto for a starting role under Enzo Maresca, offering Chelsea additional depth and reliability in a crucial position.
Chelsea’s growing interest in Palace players doesn’t stop at Muñoz, as they are also keeping tabs on Marc Guehi. Having previously failed in their pursuit of Michael Olise, the Blues are keen to ensure they don’t miss out on more Palace talent. However, they may face stiff competition for Muñoz, with reports indicating that Manchester City are also tracking the Colombian as a potential replacement for Kyle Walker following his loan move to AC Milan.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have already agreed personal terms with Sporting CP’s highly-rated midfielder Dário Essugo, with a summer move now the most likely outcome. The 19-year-old was a winter transfer target, but negotiations with Sporting could not be finalized before the deadline. According to reports, Chelsea remain determined to secure his services in the next window, adding further youthful energy to their midfield rebuild.
Despite missing out on Essugo in January, Chelsea still managed to complete the signing of Mathis Amougou for £12 million, with the French U20 international set to provide midfield cover before potentially joining Strasbourg next season. The Blues continue to prioritize youth development but may have to adjust their strategy slightly to accommodate a more experienced signing like Muñoz, who at 28, is older than most recent Chelsea recruits.
Elsewhere, Chelsea are reportedly making plans for Joao Felix’s permanent exit, following his loan move to Milan. The Portuguese attacker is not expected to return to Stamford Bridge, with the club hoping his Serie A stint will boost his market value ahead of a summer sale. Chelsea also saw a January bid for Nottingham Forest’s Murillo rejected, with the Midlands club unwilling to part with the Brazilian defender mid-season. However, with an aggressive summer window expected, the Blues are unlikely to walk away from their targets quietly.
