Sir Alex Ferguson makes radical change after INEOS ended his contract at Manchester United.

Legendary former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has stepped down as the director of his own company, ACF Sports Promotions Ltd.

Established back in 1983 when he was still managing Aberdeen, this business venture has since grown into a financial powerhouse with total assets and investments reaching £24.3 million.

One of the standout assets of ACF Sports Promotions is Ferguson’s personal collection of sporting memorabilia, which alone is valued at over £2 million. Pieces from this collection are showcased in museums and universities, adding a cultural and historical touch to his business empire.

Beyond the memorabilia, the company also boasts a hefty investment portfolio worth £19 million, along with cash reserves of £5.1 million. It’s clear that Sir Alex’s business acumen off the pitch has been just as successful as his legendary career on it.

Interestingly, Ferguson’s journey with ACF Sports Promotions began just three years before he took the helm at Manchester United, where he would go on to shape the club’s most successful era over a 26-year reign. His late wife, Lady Cathy Ferguson, also served as a director of the company until her passing last year, highlighting the family-oriented nature of his business.

According to the latest filings with Companies House, Ferguson’s resignation as director became official on October 29. His sons, Jason and Darren (who is also the manager of Peterborough United), resigned from the company a day before him, showing that they, too, are passing responsibilities down the line.

However, Mark Ferguson, another of Sir Alex’s sons, remains as a director. All three brothers have significant control over the company, each owning shares that amount to more than 25% but not exceeding 50%, according to company records.

Insiders suggest that these changes reflect Sir Alex’s desire to take a step back from business as he approaches his mid-80s. “The company is in great shape and now in the safe hands of his sons,” one source commented, highlighting the Ferguson family’s commitment to keeping the legacy of ACF Sports Promotions thriving.

This transition comes just weeks after Sir Alex’s role as a global ambassador for Manchester United came to an end. Following his retirement in 2013, Ferguson had served as a worldwide ambassador for the club, earning around £2.16 million annually for his services. However, the new part-ownership of INEOS brought cost-cutting changes that included the end of his ambassadorial position.

This decision stirred mixed emotions among fans and former players alike, as many felt that Ferguson’s contributions to the club made him an irreplaceable figure. However, with his accomplishments both on and off the pitch, Ferguson’s legacy remains intact as he gracefully steps into a new chapter.

As Ferguson eases into retirement, his company remains financially strong and in good hands, just as he always managed to keep his beloved Manchester United at the top. The iconic manager’s transition is a reminder of how he continues to leave his mark, even as he passes the torch.
