In an interview in the Italian TV show Che Tempo Che Fa, Guardiola stressed that he has not decided yet what he will do in the future. He mentioned the special relationship he has with his current club, Manchester City and he said he would love continuing managing them.

But let’s analyze this in the FA prospect. They had a contract with Gareth Southgate before his resignation and the relationship they had with the previous coach was a successful one. He managed to send England to the semis in Russia in 2018, sending them to the final in Euro 2020 and Euro 2024. So he had everything that a great coach has to win.

Still, the FA’s decision was to find a new manager and this led to the resignation of Gareth Southgate. Here comes a new situation and a new perspective for the FA and the candidate, who will be the next coach of the Three Lions.

One thing that is in the middle of FA and Guardiola at the moment is his versatility in taking a job as the national team coach. There is quite a gap on the managerial style of the club manager and the national team manager. A club manager manages his team daily, a national team manager sees his team a couple times a year. So he needs to be extra careful with the training and the selection of the player.

In a club, you can fix the mistake the next week you play, in a national team, the mistake stays there for months. So these differences make the agreement not an easy one, for both Guardiola as a manager and the English FA.

The FA Interest

It is the most logical decision to hire Guardiola for this job as he would bring a hell of innovation to the FA. Furthermore, he has connections with players like Foden, and Grealish and has managed Cole Palmer in the past. So he already knows the attack and it would be easier to build tactics with these players. He has something extra and this can reflect to the player’s mentality with him as a head coach.

Hiring a high profile manager like Guardiola means more popularity and more fans following your team. He is already a global coach and every fan is referred at least once to his football and his tactics. So he runs the managerial business. Meanwhile he is managing a top team like Manchester City, and knows Premier League, which makes him the perfect candidate for the England job.

England will have increased media attention and this will put more pressure to the team. But this is something that Guardiola is up to and he knows the perfect recipe to manage these situations. Plus, having a great manager managing England is very positive to have that kind of attention and publicity.

England Job Challenge

He has won so much with Manchester City, six Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League. So he continued the reign he had in Barcelone and Munchen. There is no doubt in his qualities and this makes him the perfect candidate so far. But there is something that may influence his decision and this are the financial problems of Manchester City.

There are 115 accusations of Financial breach and the board has a headache. He leaving in this tough moment, it would not be great for Manchester City. But changing the environment in a moment like that would be probably a healthy decision for the coach.

This could lead to a big challenge if he accepts the England job. How this would influence the coach in the future and what could be his condition if he accepts the job in the middle of the club accusations?

Finally that could led into a great deal for the English FA Board as they would have a jam in their squad. This would impact the FA and led into more successful situations in the future. Furthermore this would create a new atmosphere in the team and the relations coach-player would be different. Maybe this is the right time for England and Guardiola to shake hands and start a collaboration?

Perhaps this decision is one of the most important ones for his managerial career and the English FA. Changes are coming and this time for the better for all the English fans.
