This Mersyside derby decided the next objectives of the squads for the rest of the season as Liverpool and Everton prepared for a spectacular game.
The game started with a minute of silence in honor of the victims in Gaza and after that everything left place for the pitch to give the verdict.
Calvert Lewin had a chance with a header in the first minute after a cross by Dwight McNeil.
Liverpool combined with a quick attack and Diaz, Szoboszlai, Salah could have been resulted, but Salah was caught offside.
Tsimikas crossed a ball in the seventh minute, but Jota didn’t interfere with the trajectory of the ball.
Virgil Van Dijk closed a dangerous ball wiith McNeil who had the chance to risk the target of Allison.
Ashleuy Young gets the first yellow
Ashley Young received a yellow in the 18th minute and that meant that Diaz had more freedom in the left wing.
Diogo Jota made a solo run in the 22nd and Tarkowski made a decisive intervention to stop the attacker from scoring. Liverpool won a free kick and Trent Alexander Arnold shot but his shot was blocked by Jarrad Brathwaite.
Liverpool was attacking with a quick pass transition and this was well read by Everton’s defence.
Salah sent one wide of the target in the 27th with the Egyptian who tackled McNeil to create himself a great chance.
Tarkowski took a yellow in the 32nd fouling Gravenberch to put his team in more difficult position.
McAllister shot in the 34th but Jordan Pickford saved in two times. Ashley Young tackled Diaz in the 37th and received the second yellow card to leave Everton with 10 players.
Trent Alexander Arnold tried one in the 40th, but his shot went wide the target of Pickford.
The second half
The Mersyside Derby has produced more red cards than any other fixture in the Premier League in the last three decades.
Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison left the field to be replaced by Michael Keane and Nathan Patterson. The second half started with Liverpool in the attack.
Ibrahima Konate was punished with a yellow card in the 51st, with Liverpool who didn’t need any unpleasant surprise in the second half.
Diaz and Tarkowski had a crash in the sideline in the 56th, and the two players were able to continue the game.
Calvert Lewin was replaced by Beto in the 61st to attack more and reduce the spaces in the first line of the attack.
Tsimikas and Granvenberch were replaced by Nunez and Harvey Elliot in the 62nd to increase the intensity of the attacks.
Konate left the pitch with a yellow in his shirt to be replaced by Joel Matip in the 66th minute. Sean Dyche received a yellow for a protest to Craig Pawson for a missed second yellow for Konate before the subb.
Luiz Diaz crossed a ball in the zone and Michael Keane blocks the shot with a hand. After consulting with VAR, Pawson gave a penalty.
Liverpool strike and open the equalizer
Mohamed Salah scored shooting with power in the left side of Pickford to send Liverpool in an advantage which means three points.
Amadou Onana was replaced by Arnaut Danjuma in the 80th to send the midfield in that level of performance, which secured them a goalless first half.
Luis Diaz was replaced by Joe Gomez in the 81st to defend the advantage they received with Mo Salah.
Nunez’s cross was blocked by Braithwaite in the 85th and Elliot shot a stunner in the 89th, but his attempt was saved by Pickford.
Mykolenko was replaced by Chermitti in the 88th and Everton seemed to have solved the defensive problem, but not the offensive one.
Nine minutes were added on and Jota tried one in the 92nd but his shot ended wide. Szoboszlai advanced in the box and shot wide in the 96th with Everton seem to have sorrendered the game.
The derby was decided with Nunez and Salah who combined and Salah who defeats Pickford with a shot in the zone in the 97th minute.
The match ended with Liverpool who won a pragmatic match thanks to a double of Mo Salah.
