Borussia Dortmund continue to be a bit unpredictable in the Bundesliga. Just before the international break, they suffered a 2-1 loss to Union Berlin, despite head coach Nuri Şahin’s vow after their tough 5-1 defeat to Stuttgart on matchday four that “I never want to see this face of my team again.” However, between those two losses, Dortmund pulled off a stunning comeback from 2-0 down to beat Bochum 4-2 and followed that up by thrashing Celtic 7-1 at home in the UEFA Champions League – their biggest UCL win ever.

Currently sitting seventh in the table, Dortmund have struggled defensively, conceding at least twice in each of their last four Bundesliga matches. This marks their worst start (W3, D1, L2) since the 2014/15 season. On a positive note, they’ve been solid at home, collecting all three of their league wins at Signal Iduna Park. They’re also unbeaten in their last 38 home Bundesliga games played on Fridays (W29, D9), which bodes well for continuing that streak.

On the other hand, St. Pauli couldn’t build on their first Bundesliga win since February 2011.
