Mecole Hardman, a three-time Super Bowl champion, is being released by the Green Bay Packers.
The Green Bay Packers are parting ways with veteran receiver/returner Mecole Hardman, as reported by NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
Despite a deep group of wide receivers, including first- and third-round picks, Hardman found himself in an uncertain position and will be released after signing with the Packers.
Hardman, who has found success primarily in Kansas City, played a key role in securing the Chiefs’ second straight Super Bowl title with a memorable catch from Patrick Mahomes.
After signing a one-year, $1.5M deal with the Packers, Hardman will now head to free agency, with the possibility of staying on a practice-squad deal in Green Bay.
The Packers have a crowded WR depth chart, with options like Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks, and rookies Matthew Golden and Savion Williams, while waiting for Christian Watson’s return from injury.
Hardman’s potential role with the Packers was in the return game, where he has an All-Pro honor as a kick returner, making him an intriguing option for teams interested in his services.
